The Mallard Train at Kings Cross Railway Poster Metal Wall Art (4 Sizes)

Perfect gift for a railway enthusiast or, likewise, a collector of vintage advertising. Number 4468 Mallard is a LNER A4 4-6- Pacific steam locomotive built at Doncaster, England in 1938. A relatively typical member of its class, however, it is historically significant for being the holder of the world speed record for steam locomotives (July 3rd 1938 to be exact).

The Mallard was designed by Sir Nigel Gresley as an express locomotive to power high-speed streamlined trains. Its wind-tunnel-tested, aerodynamic body allowed it to reach speeds of over 100 mph (160 km/h). The Mallard,  in service until 1963, covered almost one and a half million miles (2.4 million km).

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Your Mallard at Kings Cross Metal Wall Art will come with pre drilled holes in each corner for easy fixing. We recommend that your Metal Wall Art is suitable for Indoor hanging (preferably out of direct sunlight) or in a shaded area outside. These signs are NOT UV treated, but you can apply a suitable UV resistant spray post purchase to prolong it’s vibrant colours for a longer period of time ( available from most DIY stores and online ). Signs placed in direct sunlight will naturally fade over time. However, placing your sign in the right place will ensure years of happy viewing.
